PMP is a register that contains all the necessary action to integrate and coordinate the entire project even the subsidiary plans established by the team. (Kerzner 2013). Furthermore The Body of Knowledge from the APM (Management 2019) states that the PMP is “a document made up of individual management plan components and the “output of integrated planning.” This means theres one single master file which covers all the different documented elements of a project. That is PMP. To present one solution to all problems.
Project management plan adds outline or structure to the cycle by relegating an order to every significant parts engaged with the plan. The reason behind project management plan (or PMP) is to evaluate the outcome of project, how an effective result will be accomplished, who will be engaged with the venture and how the project will be estimated ,conveyed and communicated. Having an objective is significantly important. We have to understand what we are attempting to do. Besides, we need to realize how we will accomplish those objectives by realizing which individuals in the process play which roles. (Matyus 2019)
The primary components of a project management plan are:
- Introduction
- Project aims and objectives
- Project policies (e.g. environmental policy, H&S policy, dispute handling policy, etc.)
- Project approvals
- Project organisation (OBS)
- Project harmonisation & interface management system (communications management)
- Project Implementation Strategy (WBS)
- Acceptance procedures
- Programme management (schedules including milestones of project)
- Procurement management
- Contract management
- Risk management
- Financial management
- Resource management
- Health & safety
- Environmental
- Project Team (communication within the project)
The project aims and objectives will outline the success criteria and project deliverables in the PMP. From this we can establish constraints on resources, times, cost, and quality. This helps us outline the scope of the deliverable and the PMP further outlines them with responsibilities. The PMP will identify the project organization and dedicate a section to it which will include the organizational breakdown structure (OBS)
Quality and cost management will be featured within the PMP by the procedure of sections Acceptance. Risk management, contract management, resource and financial management. Likewise within the policies section it will be covered. Its connected with the project objectives and aims to make sure that these are handled within the project constraints and requirements. A works break down structure is important for analysis of cost of a project.
· Some examples of time Limits: Consultant appointment, Design phase, Defects liability period, Date for issue of contract documents
· Some Example of Cost Limits: Design cost limit, Construction cost limit, Individual element cost limit (by WBS elements)
· Some Quality requirements: Statement of Quality, Quality Assurance Plan( QAP), Quality assurance requirements, materials specification, Specification for machine operations.
